Do you want to know how climate change affects biodiversity? The microbiological discipline of relevance here is pharmaceutical microbiology, an applied branch of microbiology (once considered as an off-shoot of industrial microbiology but now a distinct field). Heredity: All living things have DNA and genetic information codes the structure and function of all cells. You’ll also determine the identification of unknown microbes while developing experience and skills in specialised microbiology lab techniques.
In your first year, you’ll be in timetabled teaching activities such as lectures, seminars, practical classes and workshops, guided independent study sessions and fieldwork for about 14 hours a week. Kevin Dunbar and his students spent many hours meticulously interviewing real biologists from top laboratories, recording their lab meetings, and reading grant applications and manuscripts of research papers. On this module you’ll attend lectures, practical classes and workshops, and supervised time in a studio or workshops and you’ll take part in fieldwork study and guided independent study.
The science that concerns itself with these objects we will indicate by the name biology Biologie or the doctrine of life Lebenslehre. Some teaching may also be delivered by postgraduate students who are usually studying at doctorate level. Molecular biology looks at the molecular mechanisms behind processes such as replication, transcription, translation and cell function. We provide opportunities for our students to stimulate critical thinking, refine communication skills and gain technical expertise to tackle the complex biological, ecological and clinical challenges of our time.
That’s why each year, our professors welcome students into their labs or into the field, working side-by-side on original research, asking questions that no one has answered and looking for solutions that are yet to be discovered. We explore a wide range of fundamental biological questions with a focus on molecular cell biology at all levels, from molecular structure to human disease. On this module you’ll attend lectures, practical classes, workshops and supervised time in a studio or workshops, and you’ll take part in fieldwork study and external visits.
Although these debates are serving to stimulate the science, future advances must be focused on how to direct new knowledge that is acquired to advancing the human condition and medical science. JoVE Biology includes techniques and experimental approaches in the fields of cellular, molecular, and organismal biology. From a series of workshops, you’ll gain critical knowledge in cellular aspects of biology. Bucknell University undergraduate students traveled to with biology professors Sarah Lower and Gregory Pask to western Pennsylvania to do research and scientific outreach to the general public at the annual Pennsylvania Firefly Festival.
